Hi! I’m a 35 year old Filipina based in Vietnam with my husband. We’ve been married for almost one and a half years now. We go back to Manila every three months but only over the weekend. I have my OB in Manila that’s been helping us to conceive but I don’t get to see her everytime we go home. She knows that I’m based abroad so she allowed me to text her if I have questions. Before, she was answering my messages in viber but now she’s not so I’m trying my luck if you could help me. I don’t want to go to a hospital here coz not all of them knows how to speak English, even doctors ☹️.

Anyway, as what I understand from my doctor when she checked me (with the lab and physical test) I’m perfectly okay. My husband has two kids from his first marriage so I’m assuming he’s capable of having kids. During my first visit to the doctor,she prescribed me a pill. She said it will help me to produce more eggs but after a few months I didn’t got pregnant. Then I went back to her when I flew home and then she asked me if my husband drinks and I said yes, he drinks a lot. I mean a lot! mainly because of the nature of his job. And that’s why she wanted to have my husband’s specimen examined. She said alcohol slows down the movement of the sperm that’s why it’s hard for it to reach my ovaries. Is that for real? I told my husband about it and he’s cool with it but unfortunately, he doesn’t have the time to do it whenever we fly home.

Few months I was not able to go back home but when I went to Hong Kong last January, I surprisingly saw my OB there and then she asked me if I’m already pregnant and I said not yet so she said I should take birth control pill but only for 21 days. She was not able to explain to me what the birth control pill was for coz it was just a quick chat. She just told me to take it on the first day of my period. I didn’t do what she instructed on the month that we met. I just started this month when I had my period last week. Will the birth control pill not affect the baby if we’re trying to conceive? If after finishing the 21-day pill and I didn’t get pregnant after my ovulation, should I take another 21-day pill? Is that how it works?
