Would you/have you use Ancestry DNA Kit? Any adoption success stories?!

I got an Ancestory DNA Kit as a gift bc I've always wanted to get one. I'm adopted and don't know much about my birth family... So not only will I find out my heritage...I could possibably find family members. 
I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of people finding people through this?? 
Also what do you think I am??

I used AncestryDNA. I didn’t anticipate finding my biological family. I just wanted to know my ethnicity. I had been searching since I was 18 years old, almost half of my life at this point. 
Sunday, January 8th, I woke up with my wife, like any other Sunday. I had thrown out my back, we were watching the kids and we were trying to pack for the move that day. We were both on our phones, looking at IG, doing our “news” checks for the morning. Jenn tells me, “Check our email. Your DNA results are in.” I was so nervous and excited! I finally got to see what my ethnicity was. I opened the email and clicked the link. 
I am German, French, Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern. Never would have guessed Middle Eastern. It’s so freaking interesting! My wife can’t say, “I told you so,” lol. Now she just says my attitude comes from all the German. 
What I didn’t expect was all the DNA matches. I really thought that I wouldn’t get anything. I saw all the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins first. My wife actually saw the close family relative match. I lost my mind. It started to go a million miles a minute. What did it mean? Who was it? What are they to me? Could it be my birth parents, grandparents, sibling, aunt, uncle, who? 
It took me probably a good half hour to work up the courage to message them, but I finally did. I started neurotically checking my phone to see if I got a message back. Nothing throughout the day. 
At about 3-4PM, I get a phone call from an unknown number. I figure if it’s important they’ll leave a message. I hate answering unknown calls ... it gives me crazy anxiety. I know, it’s weird lol. Well, they left a message. They just said, “Hi this is A. I’m calling for Buffy, please give me a call back when you can.” I figured it was for nails. I would call them back the next day and set up their appointment. I get busy with stuff at the house and all of that. At about 7:30-8PM, I get another call from the same number. I’m thinking to myself, “Dang! They really want their nails done! I have to call them back later.” This time, the voicemail is longer. Even the tone of the voicemail was different. I knew something was going on. They said, “Hi, this is A again, my parent got a hit on their ancestry and I think I may be your aunt. Please call me back when you are comfortable, I would love to talk to you.” I lost it. I started freaking out. I called my wife into the room. I didn’t know what to do or how I felt. I called my sister, I called my parents, I called my life-mate Courtney. I just lost it.  I didn’t know what to do or what to say if I called back. I was a total mess. It was probably about 9PM when I called back ... I remember asking her, “Is it too late to call back? What if they’re asleep or don’t answer?” 
I called Amy back and in those first few sentences, my life turned upside down in the best way possible. I’m starting to cry all over again. I have been searching my entire adult life for answers to all of my questions about my birth mom, birth family and heritage. I’ve waited my entire life to know who I look like, why my hair is so crazy, why I’m artistic, and all these random questions that still continue pop up. I have it all finally. 
I have this entire bonus family that has known and wondered about me too. 
I talked with my biological aunt for about an hour. It was like talking to someone so familiar. We had the same laugh and we sounded so similar. It was so crazy. She was so open, caring, honest and understanding. It was incredible. 
I learned so much about my biological family ... health history, personal history, and who was who. It was so awesome and overwhelming in a good way. 
Since that conversation, I have talked with my biological uncle, my biological sister, my biological brother, my biological grandparents, my biological cousins, ... it is so amazing to me.
There is so much information, I think I’m going to list some because it’s so much to take in.
My birth name would have been Kendra. So that’s what everyone referred to me as. 
My birthmom did nails. Like really?! Out of every job, she did nails too!! She loves art. I will be contacting my birth mom in the future. I would like to meet her eventually.
I have three bio-uncles and one bio-aunt. They’re all a feisty group, they say, so I definitely will fit in! 
We all look so similar, it’s bizarre and awesome. The resemblances are just uncanny ... 
Since January, I have been able to contact my bio-mom and got the name of my bio-dad. Through some facebooking and searching on ancestry, I found him. I have a bio-brother from his side and a ton of other family. 
I don’t even know what else to add, it’s so much stuff. It’s so overwhelming and amazing. I have all of this information right at my finger tips. I have been waiting my entire life for this. My parents have always been so incredibly supportive of my search. They are just as ecstatic as I am.

It is all so surreal and crazy and intense ... I am so happy that I get the opportunity to build a relationship with everyone. It’s filled a hole inside and healed so much hurt I held onto.

Yes! I did this. I actually found out that my father is not my biological father. I was also matched as a first cousin to someone. He messaged me and said he could help me find my bio father and he did. We did a paternity test and sure enough, I found him.

I’ve been arrested so *the system* has my dna anyways... but apparently insurance companies can deny you because of these genetic tests

I did mine. There are lots of stories about adopted people finding their families. I’m not adopted but I wanted to see if my dad was really my dad since people lie... In my matches are a bunch of family members from that side so it was kinda nice seeing my mom told me the truth.

My mum found out several years ago that her dad was actually her stepdad and that her mum couldn't even remember who her real dad was. I bought her an ancestry DNA test because I thought it would at least be cool for her to get an idea of what her heritage was. We actually matched with a third cousin and through communication have narrowed the possible dads down to three brothers. It took a good amount of research, dead ends and waiting, we have hit a brick wall for the time being, but my mum now knows who her paternal grandparents were and we can marvel at the family resemblance. So valuable for her and our family!

I did 23andme DNA kit and also Ancestry DNA 😂 
Both of my parents were adopted and have no idea who their biological parents were. I’ve managed to track down my moms biological parents - but it had nothing to do with the DNA test. It was hours and hours and hours of researching. I found my moms birth mother through pure fucking luck - I went onto an adoption site, and searched my moms original name (which I found on ancestry as well as the mother’s last name.) and there was a hit - meaning someone had put up that post looking for her. And it listed EVERYTHING I could ever want to know about her birth mother. Jobs she used to work, how many children she had, hair color, eye color, address... and from there I was able to find all her documents on ancestry. And I’ve now gone back all the way to the 1800s with her line 😊
Also after finding the names...I messaged a few of my closest DNA relatives (on both websites. One person even had the same last name as the birth mother) but nobody knows anything about them. One person had old pictures that she had gotten from someone else who is now dead, so she didn’t know anything either lol. And I’ve had people message me asking if I know anything about their biological family, and unfortunately don’t have shit to tell them. 
I’ve honestly gotten nowhere with the DNA other than satisfying my curiosity of my ancestry. 
And the results between 23andme and Ancestry DNA are slightly different - if anyone is curious.

My sister noticed an odd connection on ancestry.com, a woman that looked almost identical to us, it was eerie. My sister couldnt figure out the connection so she messaged the woman and the kicker was it turned out this lady was adopted! And she had found some of her birth family on ancestry! She turned out to be a distant relative of ours, like a third cousin so it was weird how much we looked alike...but I thought it was awesome that she was adopted and connecting to blood family through the website

I have used Ancestry DNA. I also bought tests for my husband, grandmother, grandfather, and my first son. My father left before I was born, and he himself was adopted in the 60s in Virginia. Since Virginia’s a closed adoption state, I didn’t get anywhere on my own. 
I’m currently in contact with a woman who I’m 90% sure is my aunt through Ancestry. She has had a TON of success finding her biological family. She’s been able to meet 2 brothers and her nieces and nephews. 
For ethnicity, it’s super neat to see the results. I’m the whitest person on the planet. I am mainly European but also part African and Caucasian which was amazing and unexpected.

Sort of...I got a test last year & had a bunch of DNA hits from other people... I actually had a man contact me who was adopted & I still haven't figured out who his parents are exactly but I did enough digging to figure out which side of my family he came from. He is my second cousin. A lot of that generation passed away so there's no way to really know who's baby he is.
