What should I do about teachers saying this?

So I’m reading a book about Malcolm X (his autobiography) and my (white) teachers seem unpleasantly surprised. I suppose I see why they might get mad being the way they perceive him, but it bothers me. Idk if maybe I shouldn’t read it at school or what.

I like to read a variety. After I read Malcom X i read Thomas Sowell "A conflict of visions". Or what about the Gulauge Archolpello? Books are there to be read, and discussed. After you finish the book you should see if your teacher has even read it (cant you guys email your teachers these days?). If he has read it then ask him his take on it, or if he seems hesitant at first blurt out a critisism -not a compliment as that could be a mess inviting strategy and you want to talk about it, right?- you have about the book. A legitimate criticism you have, or a comparison between the book being discussed and another book. See how responds to that. Often we agree with people on things just as often as we don't. Its the discussion that keep our civil society flourishing.

I know next to nothing about him, but hey people read biography’s about Hilter not because they support him or anything but out of curiosity of history. Wether you admire this guy or not it shouldn’t matter about you reading about him, you’re just educating yourself on someone’s life which may be to form your own opinion.
