Only Child?

Question

This question is for absolutely everyone!
I currently have one son, and am at war with having a second. 
Can anyone share only child stories and experiences? 
Also, that age was your first when you had your second, and would you change how far apart they are in age of you could?

I hated being an only child growing up. It made everything so boring. I would have loved to have a bond with someone like siblings do. My girls are 17 months apart and I wouldn’t change anything.

As an only child with older parents I told myself I would never do that to my children if I could help it. I was alone a lot, which in some ways was good as I think it made me a creative person, but it was also lonely and I feel I did not get the closeness of ever having a brother or sister. I am also obligated to be the sole caregiver to my parents when they become old and will have to settle everything on my own when they die. I also hate that my kids won’t have aunts or uncles on my side of the family. I feel I really can’t relate to people who had siblings in a lot of ways.
I had my first child at 27 and am now pregnant with my second. They will be 18 months apart.

I'm an only child and I've always loved it. Me and my parents always travelled A LOT and I don't think we would have if I wasn't the only child. I also feel like because of it I'm very responsible and for a young age I was talked with like an adult in many ways, which made me very knowledgeable. Since I was the only child I always had to sit with the adults discussing things like politics, history, culture etc. I don't think I would have gotten that with siblings. I never felt lonely. I learned to entertain myself and to be very independent. Also never had to fight with anyone!

I was the only child and hated it for the most part. My hubby has 3 other siblings so he didn't understand. I loved having one baby but knew how it felt to be the only child. Hubby and I decided to try for another when he was 1 and some odd months. Now we have a daughter that's 9wks old and they are 2yrs and a week apart. I def wouldn't change anything for the world with my two babies. I guess it's just the individuals own opinion.
