John or Jack? 💙

We are definitely going to call our son Jack, but can’t decide if his first name should be John or not. I kind of like having a “formal” name and the flow of John Thomas more than Jack Thomas. My husband doesn’t like the confusion and isn’t sure people know Jack is a nickname for John. What do you think?

My sons name is Jack after his grandpa who’s name is John! I would just name him Jack if that’s what you’re planning on calling him.

As he grows into adulthood, John will give him the option of using the more formal name or the nickname. 
Tell your husband everyone knows Jack can be a nickname for John.

My nephew is John and goes by Jack. I don’t find it confusing at all. It’s definitely a nickname. Either way you make out like a rockstar, but I’m preferential to John with Jack as a nickname.

I personally have never heard jack as a nickname for John but I like jack Thomas anyways. I think jack for John is slightly confusing but I think that’s cause I’ve never heard it

My husband Jack is named after his grandfather, John “Jack”. We’ll be naming our son Jack. I considered John because that’s my dads name but I like just Jack better.

My nephew is a John "Jack" and he's never had too much trouble with it as far as I know.... Not any more than anyone else with a nickname!
