Stretch & sweep in IRL?

I’m 38+4 and want to know does any of you other Irish mommys know if your normal GP will do a stretch & sweep for you? Or check for dilation?! So jealous in other countries where they can go for an appointment and have everything done there and then.. not here though!!

Usually the midwife will do it i haven’t heard of a gp doing it before, but not until you are 40 weeks and even then some won’t until 41.  
An obstetrician can do it earlier, I had one at 39weeks as baby was measuring very big but I was also higher risk due to thyroid issues so had more hospital appointments than most people - I’m not sure if low risk mothers see a baby doctor at the end? Have you appointments with anyone other than the midwife from now on?
