Finally bought pre seed!

I’m ready to take our ttc to the next level, I went out and bought pre seed for my husband and i! That being said, I read directions but I’m curious...do you ladies insert it before you start fore play or don’t insert the lube until right before he goes in? Sorry if this question seems silly! Also how long did it take before you conceived?
