Montessori, traditional public school or private?

Question

So we recently came across a new school for our son and I wonder, what do you think is the best option for schooling? For those of you that don’t know, Montessori schools can be public or private but they focus on student led learning. The kids still learn certain lessons but can focus more on their personal interests and can make their learning more hands on. They tend to have less students and the classes are not specifically grade oriented (1-3rd grade are in one room, 4-6th grade in another.) Thoughts?

Any school, when properly funded and staffed by teachers who care, can be a blessing. My best friend went to a Montessori school until high school, and absolutely loved it. As a parent, the most valuable thing you can do is be involved in your child's education. If they aren't getting what they need and you have the resources to take them somewhere else, then maybe it's time for a change. For me personally, my parents couldn't afford private school. So when the public school wasn't challenging me, my parents gave me supplementary math and science lessons at home. It sucked waking up early for "school before school" but I'm an engineer now, so I can't complain.

honestly I worked in Montessori playgroups (daycare) on and off for 4 years when I was training and I can't praise it enough. every child I've known to go to one has come leaps and bounds in one way or another and I think they benefit so much from it.

I don't have a lot of personal knowledge of Montessori versus Traditional schools, but my cousin put both his kids into Montessori preschool and kindergarten before transferring them to a public elementary.
I took almost a decade work of Spanish and I can't speak it at all only three years after my last college class in it but my cousins two little girls are almost fluent (in kid speak, so they could easily converse with another child) 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think every option has pros and cons. I personally am planning to homeschool my kiddos for the beginning of their school careers. Then, as they get older, we will reevaluate what works best for the individual child.
That's how my parents did it. Homeschooled us until high school, then worked with each child to figure out what was best. I started college as a junior in high school, one of my brothers went to public school part time for their engineering program (like 3 hours a day) with the rest at home, and my other brother is going to high school because he wants to be able to participate in all the sports. Three different children, there different paths/reasons, but all work very well!

We're sending our daughter to a regular daycare at 2 or 3 a few days a week for socialization. For VPK-Middle School she's going to go to a nature focused school. They do a lot of work & lessons outside, the school is on about 50 acres of woods & lakes so lots of exploring and things like that! It only goes up to 8th grade so she'll go to a traditional highschool.

as a CHFD specialist Montessori and Reggio Emilia are amazing curriculums when executed properly.. nothing better sports critical thinking

I’ve worked in a preschool that was supposed to be Montessori (the basics were there but they were understaffed and had other issues that didn’t present it that well). I like the idea if done right. I’d like to try incorporating that into homeschooling or a home school co-op type situation whenever I do have children.

I like some aspects of Montessori and incorporate them into our homeschooling. Because our area is very poor, I personally choose homeschooling over the options provided. Even our private schools are lackluster.
