Spotting and nausea

So I had my period the week before last, it lasted 3 days, today I have light spotting and I’m very nauseous, I had to call in to work, took a pregnancy test it was negative, I never felt anything like this maybe it a stomach virus idk... Has this ever happened to you before ?
