If the tattoo costs $80, is a $20 tip enough?

(And yes tips are appropriate. To anyone I’ve brought this up to, they’ve said you don’t have to tip) I tipped $20 on my last tattoo and that cost $80 as well. But I don’t know if that was enough?

Always tip tattoo artists whoever told you you dont have to shouldnt be getting tattoos. Anywho $20 is good its a little more then 20%. I always find myself tipping higher then 20% because i love the work and my shop always gives me discounts.

I've always thought of it like tipping a server at a restaurant, so to me it's usually 20% minimum. I'd say $20 for an $80 tattoo is good.

I think it’s enough. I tip really well if the services are good. My husband and I got tattoos that combined were 400 bucks we tipped 200. I don’t mind paying for GOOD service

I've read articles that say you shouldn't just tip for the job done, but also for the supplies used and time taken. An $80 tattoo doesn't sound like it lasted too long to have done, but that would also be ink and needles used up... If it were me, I'd probably go up to $30, maybe $35. Mine was $100 for an hour job, I tipped $60 for the above reasons, and because we walked in on such short notice, so I felt bad, lol

ALWAYS TIP! I cannot stress it enough! Think of it this way, if you were the one tattooing someone else you would like to get a tip, right? I always tip 20%!
