Tattoo idea?

I know people who have committed suicide, been suicidal, depressed and have anxiety (I have also been depressed and dealing w anxiety) and apparently this is the meaning of the semicolon tattoo and I want to get it but is it too trendy/over done? I figure this out cuz of 13 reasons why so I’m kinda thinking I shouldn’t but idk.

a town next to mine does an annual event of tattooing that tattoo! my husband and I went last year, they had 2 tattoo options, the semi colon, and 2 types of B-Love tattoos, which are like the letter B with a heart, they had 1 for $40 or both for $60, my husband got the semi colon, I got both. all the proceeds go to mental health foundations! this year there is a tattoo artist convention thing in Toronto that all the tattooists are going to so they couldn't do the tattoo fundraiser but they are selling "you matter" and semi colon bumper stickers! the semi colon is a really good tattoo for mental health! yes literally millions of people have it, but it's a good cause, not just something random like when everyone was getting "live laugh love" or that stereotypical heart with "mom" on it lol

I think it is a beautiful idea and tattoo. Be prepared to have a matching tattoo with people you don’t know. Bothers some people, other people like the community.

i have one and love it. i self harmed for years and need a reminder somedays of why i stopped and this tattoo has helped me stay free from self harm for longer durations of time than anything else. once i got mine i worried that it was over done but to be honest when i have seen people with it i feel like we have something in common and that we are all fighting together.

Honestly I'd say if you're so worried about it, get it incorporated into something else so that it's more meaningful but also what you're wanting to get. I love the idea behind the semicolon tattoo.. no one should ever look down on it

That is the reason behind this tattoo....it’s my reminder to stay strong no matter how hard it gets.  It’s also what my grandmother told me all the time.  I love the semi colon idea but I also like the thought of using your own idea as well to help remember those you lost and to help you stay strong as well.
