Baby’s last name?

Alright ladies & mommas,

I’m having this little dispute with myself about what last name to give out daughter when she’s born.

My mom & her side of the family feel it’s wrong that I give my daughter her father’s last name. But I’ve always seen it as: if they father is in the picture, you use his last name regardless.

My boyfriend (her father) & I have been together coming up on 5 years together. We do have a rocky relationship though but that doesn’t change the fact that we’re still together & he wants to raise his daughter as a family. Years ago, I pictured us getting married & having a family together (no particular order). But the marriage part isn’t exactly something I envision anymore. That being said, I don’t feel that should change the fact that I think my daughter should be getting his last name.
