Don’t avoid cutesy names if they’re what you love!

The purpose of this post is NOT to start a debate, but rather to encourage couples to name their children according to what THEY love and what feels best for them. 😊

I see a lot of comments out there discouraging the use of more “cute” names because “they won’t be taken seriously when they’re older” or “it will seem silly when they’re an adult”, etc.

The fact is, cute names have always been around. They just evolve and change over time. My parents generation of Karen’s and Sharon’s and Barbara’s and Dolores’, there were many parents who chose cute names like Emma and Amy and Ashley and Kaylee and so forth. To us, now, as adults, they don’t seem “cutesy” because there were many of them and we all grew up together so they’re normal and common names.

It’s totally okay if you don’t like the cute names, but it is also totally okay if you love them! There are so many families out there naming their little girls Maizie, and Poppy, and Evie, and Winnie and alllllll sorts of cute names. And boys named Ollie or Alfie or Jamie, etc. These children are all going to grow up together. There will be a large mix of traditional names and more “cutesy” names in this generation and nothing has to be off the table. They will be used to their own generation of names and I honestly don’t think any of them will seem super strange when they grow up.

It’s awesome to get others opinions on your name choices but if you really really love something and feel it’s right for your baby, don’t let the judgement of others shame you away from it.
