Samantha

this weekend was my husband and I baby shower...

and because my family was in town we all decided to drive up an hour and half away from our home to relax for the rest of the weekend. that's when my worst nightmare happened ( besides anything happening to my kids ) .. after dinner my cousin who is 15 with a driver permit wanted to take my dad's side by side atv for one more ride up the road, my dad wouldnt allow her to drive it alone so she asked my husband if he would go with her. he of course said yes. my husband is 260 pounds and 6'6" tall. this is what happened when they returned home and she lost control of the atv

where are is still 45 minutes from the nearest hospital. I am 35 wks pregnant with our son, our last child. my husband and my cousin were not alone on this ride. behind then followed our oldest daughter on her 4 wheeler and my mother and our youngest daughter. we make the kids wear helmets ( apparently we never thought about protecting ourselves, we are all experienced quad'ers) not an excuse I know. as I sat on the porch of my parents home and visiting with my aunt, the driver's mother, we hear the crash. all I remember is screaming "what the fuck was that" and getting and running.. full speed running at almost 9 months pregnant to find my husband face down in the dirt road unconscious and moaning and groaning. everything was a blur after that here is a list of his injuries..

1. traumatic brain injury due to high impact concussion

2. 10 Staples in the back of his head

3. 7 stitches in his leg

4. fractured scapula right side ( shoulder blade) 3 spots

5. 3 broken ribs on right side and 1 broken in left side

6. fractured clavicle right side

7. fractured T2 vertebrae

8. collapsed lung right side

9. he also has a low heart rate, in the hospital as low as 41 beats a minute

and multiple abrasions all over his body

yes our girls saw him after the accident the same way I found him, and I wish I could take it away from there memories. now we are home and healing

here I am this morning, emotionally exhausted, trying to have a cup of coffee..

as far as my 15 yr old cousin is , she was wearing her seatbelt and is fine besides some bumps and bruises.. and a black eye. Thank God!

I need some words if encouragement. this is really difficult.
