ectopic?

Question

I think I am 5 to 6 weeks pregnant.  I started bleeding on Friday.  The doctor has been monitoring my HCG levels since then.  Friday it was 588; Saturday was 760; Monday was 1647; Tuesday was 2057.  Today it is 2680.  The doctor did a transvaginal ultrasound today and didn't see anything in my uterus or my tubes.  However, he seems to think it is an ectopic pregnancy.  I am scared and worried.  Has anyone experienced something similar?

i started having bleeding and cramping at around 5.5 weeks and they didnt see anything in my transvaginal ultrasound at my first hcg test i was at 10,000 and 48 hours later i was 14,000 so they thought it might be ectopic but at 6 weeks 2 days they found the sac in my uterus. i bled until 10 weeks, and the cramps never seemed to go away. im now 38 weeks.

ectopic?
