Depression with IUD

I’ve had the IUD for a little over a year and a half and every time I get my period I get insanely depressed for the entirety of my period (which is normally about 2.5-3 weeks). Is this normal? It gets so bad I can’t go to work, and depression runs in my family so I bet that makes it worse too. I made an appointment to get my IUD removed but I just want to know if I’m alone in this or if it’s common
