Starting whole milk- help?!?

My daughter was born with a cleft lip/palate and she just had her palate repaired which means she’s not allowed to drink from a bottle or sippy cup for six weeks. Her first birthday was last week the day before her surgery so I’m looking for help on how to switch her from formula to whole milk and how you get your LOs to get the full amount per day. Any help is appreciated! Here’s a pic of my cutie!

Try a 360 cup. That’s what we use instead of sippy cups.

My son hasn’t figured out how to drink from a straw or regular cup yet so when we are at a restaurant without a bottle/sippy, I put a straw in my water and plug the hole with my finger, then when my son opens his mouth and I place the bottom of the straw in his mouth and release my finger from the hole so the water free flows into his mouth. It can get a little messy, which is why I only do it with water, but maybe if you’re girl wears a bib, you can give her milk this way without too much of a mess. It is also a little time consuming, but it works.

What about the 360 cup? My son had his cleft palate fixed and I don't remember what we did. This was over 8 years ago. Lol. She's adorable btw!

That’s a tough one because you’re excluded from using majority of cups babies use. My LO will drink from a water bottle if I tip it for her and take sips. You could try that? Just go slow. My LO loves it because she thinks she’s being a big girl like her sister.

She’s adorable! Is she supposed to drink through a straw during this time? 
At the advice of my pediatrician, we went cold turkey on formula and cold turkey on bottles around the same time. She said if my daughter refused the whole milk then to keep only offering whole milk throughout the day, that the transition should take about 5 days. My daughter got the hang of the switch after about 2 days.
We still do a morning wake up sippy cup, and then give her some milk with lunch (sometimes finishing this sippy cup before afternoon nap) and then another before bed. I think ideally they’re supposed to get milk only with meals but my daughter gets too distracted during mealtime and focuses better on drinking during those other times. Hopefully we’ll get there eventually.
