Friends with ex?

For any of you lovely ladies out there who have managed to end a relationship on semi good terms, how did you work out an eventual friendship with your ex? Any tips on how long it takes and if it is possible to be best friends with an ex?

I divorced my ex husband and have remained cordial/friends with him. We were together for 3.5 years, married for 1.5 of those years. After I asked for a divorce and moved out, I met my current husband 3 weeks later. I got married and pregnant 2 months after my divorce was finalized and anytime I interact with my ex, it’s like an old friend I used to know. We both root for each other in life, we don’t hold any resentment or anger towards each other and we can have normal conversations.
If two people are willing to put drama aside, it’s totally doable to be friends with your ex but if there’s drama, anger or feelings involved, it generally won’t work out.
