Should I do the Nuchal Translucency screening?

My doctor won’t give the insurance company pre authorization since it is an elective test. I would have to pay for it out of pocket. Since it is a screening not a diagnostic test, I don’t know if it is worth doing

Are you 35 and older or do you have a family history of trisomy? Unless you have certain high risk factors, you should be mostly ok without one. Of course if it eases your mind to do the test and its not too expensive (covered by universal health insurance here), then go ahead and order one.

I did and also paid for it, it’s worth knowing so you can prepare should your baby have any disabilities.
