Crib or no crib?

Question

I’m a FTM and I have a pack n play with a bassinet, a regular bassinet and many swings. I have had a few family members and friends suggest I don’t buy a crib until my baby is older. Any suggestions/thoughts/opinions?

I have a crib, but we are not using it yet. My little man is only 2 weeks old, so at night he sleeps in the master bedroom in his own bassinet and during the day in the rock and play or bassinet part of the pack and play. We just wanted it here and set up (wanted to have the nursery done before he got here). When you buy it is up to you, but I would suggest buying a crib that can convert to other beds as your baby grows. He crib we have goes from a crib to toddler bed to day bed to full size bed.

I used a pack and play the bassinet part. up until he was 7 months then I got a crib.

We bought a pack n play thinking our lil guy would sleep in the bassinet part for a while and then in the pack n play with the newborn insert that raises up the sleeping space. Yeah right! He wouldn’t sleep flat for four months. We ended up getting a rock n play and that’s what he slept in for every nap and at night. There were a few nights I nursed him in bed and he got used to sleeping on his back flat. We transitioned to sleeping in his crib at night around the four month mark. It’s on the other side of the house and I didn’t really want to be that far from him but now he can almost sleep thru the night (usually at least four hours but up to eight depending on if he gets hungry). I’ve been getting up maybe once at night which is nice. Growth spurt times are hard cause he wants to eat several times but always goes back down in his crib. He sleeps much better in his own room in his own space rather than in our room where us getting up for the bathroom or for work or even just tossing and turning in our own sleep would wake him up.

honestly don’t. i bought one and my LO sleeps in his rock and play or mini pack and play. i put it up but took it down a few weeks after we got home from the hospital it just wasted so much room. but if you find one on sale you could.

I am STILL using my pack n play, and my son is 15 months old.  We are shifting him to a low to the floor toddler bed in a few months.

We used a co-sleeper, then a pack n play, then a floor mattress in her own room at age 1. Never needed a crib.

My little man has always been in his crib. His room is ajoined to ours. This was the best option for us. But I also had my 2 older children in their crib from the start. And all 3 of my children slept through the night by 6 weeks.

I'd have a crib by 5 months or so, but no you don't need one immediately

We have a hand me down crib that is just set up taking up space right now. We co-sleep/bedshare with a snuggle nest. Once our daughter sleeps through the night she’ll transfer to the crib. But she’s only 1.5 months old so...we still have a while before then.
