Epidural???

Question

How many moms felt the ring of fire with epidural? I did with my first hurt so bad! Did they not put it in correctly?? 
Has anyone used the narcotic in the IV for pain? Does it work fully even if you’re 7-8 cm??? I took it with my first 5 times I was 3-4cm but the last 2-1 weren’t helping anymore I was wondering so with my second I know better when to use it so it can work! I want to labor at home much as I can and once I go to hospital I want to be able to walk and do different positions hold off on epidural much as I can

With my first I didn’t feel a thing but I waited till I was at 7cm to get the epidural, I mainly labored at home but once my water broke I went to the hospital and they let me labor from 3cm to 7cm in the tub then they gave me the epidural which the guy who did mine was old as hell and had hearing aids in both ears (super nice sweet guy 10/10 would have him do it again) this time around my little one didn’t want to wait for me to get any pain medicine cause I went from 2cm to 9cm in an hour and well naturally isn’t fun, wouldn’t recommend it but that’s just me, but if it helps to help you hold out longer to get the epidural, what I did was I would take a deep breath through my mouth and exhale while humming through my nose slowly while I’m a warm bath

I didn’t have an epidural or any pain medication and I didn’t feel it 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was waiting for it but it never happened. I even had a labial tear and didn’t feel it.

I felt it but it was brief. They turn the epidural down or off when you’re pushing to help get the baby out quicker.

I got my epidural with my first at 6 cm and I think it worked too well because pushing took almost three hours and I tore really bad I felt nothing until they went to stitch me up it had started wearing off then.

I didn’t feel it with my epidural and I got it around 9cm

I did not feel the ring of fire with my epidural. I did still have some feeling in my legs, and I could feel a little bit of my contractions when I was pushing, but nothing in/around my vagina. I did watch them stretch me and I had an episiotomy, but I didn’t feel those, either.

I never had that issue with my first but the Dr I had do it was known for being fantastic with epidural accuracy/placement etc.  I hope I'm as lucky this time
