Why does everyone freak out about stretch marks?

It’s a natural thing, every one gets them but why does everyone freak out about them during pregnancy? I feel it makes other people ashamed to have them or hate their stomach or other body parts

Not everyone gets them. But they certainly aren’t something to be ashamed of!  Our bodies can do amazing things, stretch marks are a sign of those amazing things.

Sure it’s natural but doesn’t mean we have to like it. Just like balding men... natural but some freak out lol nature isn’t always so nice lol

not everyone gets stretch marks from pregnancy..  I have 1 boy and now I'm 29 weeks with a girl. I have no stretch marks from pregnancy but I have stretch marks from growing too fast as a kid on my hips.

For me, I struggled with it because I’ve always struggled with my body image. Battling an eating disorder for 12 years always made me feel low about myself. BUT I grew to love mine because what else can ya do, right? Haha. I’m glad I have them. I think they’re super cute.

I have always had stretch marks on my stomach and boobs because I have been overweight my whole life. Really early on in this pregnancy I got stretch marks on my inner thighs! They got all the way down to my knees. I’m pretty self conscious of these on my legs and have been wearing long shorts all summer. I haven’t gotten any stretch marks anywhere else! And I have only gained 9 pounds in 25 weeks!

It’s a change, it can be overwhelming. When I was 13 I had no idea what they were and was too embarrassed to ask so I hid them until they faded. A year later i did finally ask my mother 😂

I think that pregnant is a time where everything is changing. We try to hold on to the people we were before and the bodies we had before because in some small way, it helps us to feel like ourselves. It’s an emotional time where all the changes we go through are beyond our control. We react based on emotions and not logic. Pregnant women are not trying to shame other women who have stretch marks, it’s just new and they haven’t processed it yet.

i have loads of strerch marks on my bum and legs( i mean loads lol) and it dosnt bother me i know its most likely only a temporary  thing during pregnancy and that theyll go away :-)
