is it rude to ask people to send bigger gifts to my house for baby shower?

I live in Georgia and we are having the baby shower in  Ohio where both of our family and friends are. we are driving so we won't have much room to go home with big gifts.  would it be rude to ask people to just stop us gifts that they buy if they are bigger?

I would have whoever is planning/hosting the shower to ask guests who plan to get big gifts/group gifts to ship them pre or post shower to your home or do a gift card. I wouldnt expect people to buy in store then ship as the shipping will be outrageous though.

Friends lived in Texas had it in Ohio, asked to send gifts to their house then bring a book as a card to the shower and include a picture or write down with the book or card what they bought the parents so they could share with everyone

Can you add it to the "notes" section of the registry? We went to a shower in NJ for friends that live in CA. I had the diaper pail sent to their house with a picture in the card, and put 2 outfits in a bag with the gift receipt. Let them figure out if they wanted to keep or return the outfits.

We had a shower in California and live in Texas. We told people they could put for "store pickup" if they didn't want to ship to our home. Store pickup is free!

I put yes only because I think shipping would be expensive. Maybe ask them to have it delivered to your local Walmart or target (if that’s where they order from) because shipping between stores is free. Just an idea for you!

I was thinking the same thing. I live in VA and our families are in NY (where the shower will be). If worst comes to worst, I plan on returning any big items I get and rebuying them when I get home.
