Vent but omg anyone experience this

I picked up my grandma at 7 am today. We were going on a local tour, shopping and lunch. When I got to her house she couldn’t get her contact out and as a result her eye was extremely red and she was in pain. Her eye doctor opened at 9 so by the time I drove there they just opened the door and a woman walked in front of us. I dropped my grandma off and parked the car by the time I got out and walked to the building she was coming out she said they told her the earliest they could see her was 11! She was in extreme pain, her eye was blood red, and crying since it just was such a horrible start to her day (even though Ik people have it much worse but she’s a widow so it’s still hard for her to rely on my mom and us grandkids for help). So then I walked in and begged the receptionist who was super unfriendly and not understand that this was an emergency and I wasn’t sure where to go if I should go to a hospital or what. The receptionist argued with me that it would throw off their entire day and all this bs. I said I need to speak to the doctor and she went back and said that she will need to wait but he will see her. The woman who was the only person in the waiting room was very sympathetic said she knew how much pain she was in and that my grandma could go before her. I wasn’t even sure if the doctor could help it was that bad so I just needed him to look before I drove 30 minutes to an er. We waited less than 5 minutes with my grandma crying in pain. The doctor comes out and instead of asking the woman who was there if she can wait a few minutes he was gonna take her first. The lady insisted she would leave and that he needed to see my grandmother now. Within ten minutes he was able to look on her eye see the contact wasn’t there the he was extremely irritated and put a new contact in. She the felt perfect!! I was just appalled that a person with a specific training and skills/tools couldn’t find the time of day to help a person clearly in need and who has been a customer here for 3+ years! I should add we were there right at 9 when his doors opened so it wasn’t like he wasn’t supposed to be working yet. Plus he owns the eye store and is the only doctor there. I understand his schedule but when we went back out.it was still the same lady in the office waiting area we did not cause any issues for the days schedule. And once again we both thanked her for letting us go ahead. Sorry just needed to vent!!
