Does anyone else have to deal with this??

Question

So weird to be posting anything in this app but hell maybe someone else has experienced this. My boyfriend of almost 6 months is in the Air Force and is current stationed 1.5-3 hours away from me (LA traffic is a dirty whore) and coming August he will be moving to Nor Cal. 
My ENTIRE family thinks that because he’s military and that we fell for each other pretty fast that all of a sudden we’re gonna elope or some shit. 
Am I the only one who has to deal with young military couple stereotypes?? Let me know!!

My husband and I were married before the military was even a conversation, but I don’t know that it is 100% always a stereotype thing of “military couples all move fast just because” or something like that (though I know that definitely accounts for some of it, for sure). I think sometimes couples move faster when one is in the military because the military member gets more housing allowance for being married. Also, it can sometimes be for logistical reasons (they PCS to a different state, or far enough away to complicate things). It comes to a decision of trying to make a LDR work, or jumping in with both feet and going with them (which is a lot easier than moving to them and being unmarried). The LDR thing is hard, but doable. My husband and I lived separately for 2 years (after being married over a year and living together for longer than that), because of things going on with my career and his training that made a LDR our best bet for the time. Anyway, at the end of the day, you two have to figure out what makes the most sense to you. There’s really no one way to make a military relationship work. Take your time figuring it out, and I hope your loved ones support you through that process. Best of luck, girl. 💛

Same here. I've been with my bf less than a year. And since month 3 my sister said that I am practically engaged without a ring. then I met his family at 6 months and alot of coworkers and family friends have asked if we got married or engaged while we were with his family. And it doesnt seem like its going to stop anytime soon.

nope, my mom's side of the family kept telling me that it'll be a mistake to marry a sailor and the only thing that'll happen is I'll get knocked up and he'll leave for a new hot piece of ass just like my uncle did to my aunt.(there was more going on like she didn't want to leave her family in Idaho to be with him in California and other thing)
