Margot nickname?

I love the name Margot or Margaux. Hubby is worried people will call her Marge or Margie, which we HATE!!! Is this a valid concern? I always thought Marge was short for Margaret or Margie. What are your thoughts? Any other suggestions or opinions appreciated. Thanks!

I’m actually surprised by other people’s comments! I would never think to shorten the name Margot. Its cute and simple as-is. I DEFINITELY wouldn’t think to call her Marge!!! I really think people will just call her Margot.

Tell people what her name is. Meaning... Her name is what you named her at birth and not a nickname!!! We are naming our girl Victoria and that is what people will have to call her, her actual name! I’ve never understood the whole “nickname” thing. If someone want their child to go by something else than the formal name (like most people these days), why not just choose that as her actual name? Lol I just don’t get it😆

Its a possibility, but I wouldn’t let it stop you. You can pretty much control what people call her for years - once she gets older in school all bets are off what her friends will do. Hopefully she likes going by Margot!
I’m 99% naming my daughter Elizabeth with and since there are so many nicknames, I’m worried some people will call her ones I don’t want, but am confident that I can steer what she’s called overall. And if not, I knew it was an option!

I can't speak for everyone, because I know people in different areas do different things, but everyone I've come across has asked me what I prefer my son to be called. But I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much, since Margot is a short name, most people won't feel the need to shorten it.

I don't know what would be considered a nick name but as its pronounced mar-go I'd probably call her M not marg, the g is a hard g not a soft g so that would make a difference to me x

I wouldn't be inclined to try Marge since it's a hard g. If anyone does you can correct them. I think of Marge as short for Margery/Marjory. 
I also think two syllables is short enough to not need a nickname, but if she or yo wanted one, I'd be inclined to try M, Mara, and Gogo (obviously more of a silly nickname than an everyday usage nickname).
