Cloth Diapers For Breastfed Newborn?

I've heard breastfed babies can have pretty hellacious poos. Lol. Like all the way up their back. I want to do cloth diapers because it seems cheaper, but then again, wouldn't I be washing them 24/7? It costs money to use the washer and dryer like that so I'm curious. And with huge messes ... 🤔 ... Also, we shop at Walmart and Sam's Club. Any brand recommendations from either of those places?

Cloth diapers are easier when the baby is exclusively breastfed because the poop can go straight in the washer.

All babies have poops like that. I use cloth diapers for my newborn and I use them still on my 15 month old. I like them. If I had to pay to use the washer and dryer each time, I probably wouldn’t. I have my own washer and dryer at home. While yes you use electricity and whatnot but it beats buying plastic diapers all the time.

Cloth definitely holds in poop better, so a lot less messes. If you have a small stash you'll be washing often. I have two in cloth (2.5 and 11weeks) so I wash every 3days, but before my 2nd cloth babe, I washed once a week. We've only ever had one blow out and that was when we first started using cloth on my 2.5yr old when he was 2weeks old due to user error. Not a single blow out since.

How often you wash has a lot more to do with how many diapers you have. I had to do every other day because we only had 24. And we only had blowouts with disposables. Occasionally would leak around the legs a little if we needed to change the fit.

Just get a larger stash of cloth diapers and you won’t have to wash as often. Up front you’ll spend a lot of money but it’ll save you money in the long run

I actually think cloth diapers hold in huge poos better than disposables. You have more pee throughs than blowouts. Also all that newborn poop is water soluble and you don't have to rinse the diapers until they start on solids or formula.

I’ve actually heard that formula babies have the biggest, baddest poops! But either way, cloth is fine! Plus you can wash breastfed babies straight in the washer.
