Group B strep
So I did a random vaginal swab last week because I got a uti and it came back saying I have group b strep. They don’t routinely test for this in the Uk but it now means as soon as my waters break I have to go into hospital and receive iv antibiotics every four hours until the baby is born. My birth has be in the delivery suite and can’t be midwife led, however I already knew this couldn’t happen as I also have an irregular heart beat and low bmi so am considered high risk. Anyone else been told they have group b strep? I’m worried about what it could do to the baby. However I’m told 25-30% of pregnant women have it in their vagina.
