I have said from about 3 weeks old that I thought my son was deaf. He passed his newborn screening in the hospital, however he would never startle, sleeps through ANYTHING, nothing bothers him! He’s a dream!!!

Everyone told me I was over reacting and the he is fine, he is the 4th baby and is just use to the noise!

At his 4 month appointment the doctor said she is concerned because he is not making any sounds, she slammed a clip board in the floor and he didn’t react and she snapped her fingers in his ear and he didn’t care!

He is the happiest baby i have ever met!

We have an appointment with an audiologist next week and now I’m nervous!! I just want my baby to be happy and healthy! If we need to learn sign language then so be it! It just breaks my heart to think of all the what if’s.

To think of he is dead or has an impairment that he may not be able to attend the same school as his siblings, that he may get more attention as we all learn how to communicate, will he ever get married, will he get picked on.....everything runs through my head.

He is our little meatball and I will do anything and everything we need to to make he has all that he needs in life.

Has anyone else’s baby passed the newborn screening and still had some form of hearing loss???
