Spermicide?

Dr. Told me to maybe consider this as an alternative to hormonal birth control. Anyone use it? Can you tell me more about it? From what I read it really isn’t that effective on its own?

I use it. There’s the gel and there’s a film. I use the film as I would imagine the gel would be messy. It comes as a rectangle and I fold it up really small and push it up as far into my vagina as possible. It’s supposed to go in 15 minutes before sex and is good for 3 hours but you should put a new film on before each round of sex. I personally really like it.

I tried a few different ones and had really uncomfortable allergic reactions to all of them. I suggest trying a small amount before you ever try it with sex.

i use something called contragel, its a gel that you insert into the vagina or put in a diaphragm before sex that is a pH and consistency that immobilizes sperm. you have to buy it in amazon or through their website since its only produced in the UK :(
The spermicide in the US you see has a chemical called nanoxyl-9 in it and it's really harsh on sensitive areas. i have really loved contragel and highly encourage it :)

to me it sounds like a lot of hassle and i haven't tried it because i dont want the irritation from it. id rather just stick to condoms and such
