Restarting A Destroyed Metabolism

Gabrielle

I have always had a good metabolism and have always been in good shape. I was on bedrest in the hospital during my pregnancy for a total of 55 days until I had my planned c section at 34+3 and was discharged on the 59th day. I had a premie that was very ill and I was determined to give her breast milk. I obsessively pumped for her and I’m glad I did because I think it made a difference. I gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy and within 7 days I lost 25 lbs. I felt amazing. However I struggled with my supply badly. I took everything under the sun but never enough to not supplement with formula but I chased it for 5 months. I ended up taking two off label drugs called reglan and domperidone. Both are often used to help people with low supply. They helped but I gave up after 5 months. They destroyed my metabolism. Absolutely destroyed it. Its supposed to but I was desperate to give her breast milk I didn’t care. Weight gain is an effect of using both and I gained back every single lb exactly. All 35. I’m having a very hard time restarting my metabolism. I do best with low carb diets and will be doing a modified keto. I could lose more weight that my pre preggo because I had gained about 10lbs from the pill but idc I just want to at least be my pre preggo again. Suggestions on how to kick start? Should I ask my doctor? I plan to get my yearly physical done in about a week to check my vitamin and hormone levels.
