Do half sizes make a difference in shoes?

I’m an 8.5 shoe size and I ordered some adidas in a size 9, do you think they’ll be too big?

It really depends on the brand, for me.  I wear a size 7.  In adidas, a 7.5 would be too big for me.  But I can also fit into a size 6 in some shoes.

Adidas are always made big when i get them. Got a pair a 6.5, (which normally fits me well) ended up being a entire size too big.

I don't think half a size up would be too bad maybe a little loose but not too big. Half a size down would probably be too small, but you ordered up, so I think you're good!
