37+1 weeks and anxious??

Has anyone heard of a woman that has previous had a c section and CANNOT be induced. I really think my doctors office is full of shit! My first pregnancy was twins and I chose a c section due to their positioning and because I didn’t want to risk their health by attempting to push. I am due July 8th and 2 centimeters dilated and babygirl is head down. Is there a reason behind their belief. They said I can do a VBAC if I am contracting every five minutes  or less and/or my water has broken and my doctor has to be there (only seen her twice my whole pregnancy). Like wtf! I need some feedback ladies!!!

Induction by pitocin or other hormones significantly increased chances of scar rupture. So they are covering their asses by telling you no induction. The rules you have been told sound quite strict - you should have the choice to say how you want to birth, especially if it is no riskier than rpt c-section. Look up your hospital's official vbac policy, don't just go by what one person told you verbally as there might be a more supportive person available.

Thanks ladies for the feedback so far! And this hospital is Catholic based. I had my twins at this hospital as well with the same medical group practice. I feel like they want cut me just to get me out of the way. My recovery from the c section was FUCKING HORRIBLE while trying to tend to newborn twins in an upstairs apartment. It was hell! Praying baby girl is still head down Wednesday and dilated some more. I’ve been having contractions so hopefully my cervix is thinning.

The rate for a successful VBAC is way better if you go into labor on your own. If they induce labor it actually decreases the success rate so that's why most doctors will not induce. However, with that said, if you're not going into labor on your own by 40 weeks most doctors I work with will give the option of a repeat c/s or induction. I hope you get your VBAC!

I’m trying for a VBAC also and was told they will not induce me. I have a c section scheduled for a week after my due date in case I do not go into labor on my own. My first came on her due date so I’m not worried, but you never know!

The only type of induction that can be done for a TOLAC is a pitocin induction, however you and baby will have to be monitored EXTREMELY CAREFULLY because it’s a high chance to rupture the uterus. If you are planning to do a TOLAC, I would suggest getting an epidural just in case you should need an emergency c-section to avoid having to be put under general anesthesia. If your preference is to go through labor without pain medication. You should inquire with your hospital if they do a non medicated epidural (where they place the catheter in case it’s necessary, but don’t put any medication so you can still have a natural birth) I know the hospital I work for offers that, but not sure if they all do. I had a friend who's aiming for V2BAC. her Dr said, that if she does not go into labor herself but does dilate to a 3 herself, then he will induce her. and he will also let her go to 41wks and a day or so to give her the best chance possible of the VBAC.
