Can I call social services??(UK)

Question

So my neighbours constantly fight, I mean it'll be 11pm on a Sunday and he's punching her, she's kicking him. The language is vile. You hear it all the time, it's such an unhappy home. 
The worst part is they have to kids, the young boy sounds about 4 and the girls around 6. They're constantly screaming at the younger boy in a horrendous way and I hear him crying till all hours. The girl is running around my road naked, saying hello to strangers and is never being watched! 
I'm just wondering if I can call social? Or will they say it was a wasted call? I don't have solid evidence just so sad for these kids and think maybe mum could do with some support from a violent relationship.
Thank you for your replies, I'm glad I'm not over reacting by thinking it's best to call social. I'm going to call the police from now on when ever they're seen or heard fighting. Luckily I don't think they'll suspect the calls come from me as we live in a small close and could be anyone! We're not adjoining neighbours.

You don’t need to have evidence. All you need is a suspicion and it’s social services job to find evidence. 
I’d say yes, next time they’re fighting, at least call the police. If you see the little girl roaming, call both the police and social services.

You can call them. They’ll investigate if you don’t want your name mentioned you can say that you don’t want your name mentioned that your just looking out for the safety an well being of the children. An if you need too this may be alittle far but if you can hear them loudly fighting etc record it an show it to ss

If your gut says call, always call. They're trained professionals who will make the decision if the children are in danger or if it's not a concern. Have you considered calling the police?

Best to call the police when it’s ongoing, they will come out and they have to refer to social services.  They take domestic abuse very seriously.  Sounds like an awful situation.

Social services take any call weather there is evidence or not there job is to act and find out what’s going on if it’s nothing they will leave but you also need to be very sure about what your hearing I had them called on me and it was malicious they found out It was rubbish but it nearly killed me having that lot round my house and thinking the worst about my children. In the end is was a nasty jealous family member that did the reporting make sure it’s 100% before you do it

Record them next time even if you can’t get them on camera just record the sound, get like three of these recording/videos and then call. It’s hard to ignore hard evidence. Also next time call the cops for a noise complain, having a police report will help.
