Hello, I was just curious if the “dating ultrasound” is the same as the transvaginal ultrasound ?

A dating ultrasound is an ultrasound to measure the baby and confirm a due date. It needs to be done before 12 weeks. It's necessary in cases where mom has irregular cycles or is unsure of her LMP. Where I live if the baby measures 5 or more days different than the dates based off of the LMP the due date is changed to reflect whatever the gestation of the baby was on the ultrasound.

A dating ultrasound is just an early ultrasound (usually before 10w) it can be either abdominal or transvaginal, but is usually done transvaginal if ansuper early scan.
