What do old belly button piercings look like?

I've been thinking about maybe getting my belly button pierced for a while now. I recently turned 18 and I only have my earlobes pierced. I always find it really hot when I see a girl with a belly button piercing (a top lesbian perk is knowing what is and isn't hot lol), but I'm nervous about making a change to my body. If I get one and then someday take it out will I have an ugly hole for the rest of my life? Or will it be barely noticeable? Did you regret getting the piercing?
