Gaming addiction is now mental disorder

WHO (world health organization) just came out saying that gaming addiction will now be considered a mental health disorder. Gaming has to significantly impact the persons life and last at least 12 months. WHO hopes that by identifying gaming addiction as a disorder, doctors will take patients seriously and be able to help hem find a treatment plan.

What are your thoughts on this? Personally, I see this as a possible slippery slope for court cases. I think that it will only be a matter of time before someone who committed a heinous crime, will be let off more easily because they’ll be diagnosed with this gaming disorder.
