Uncomfortable at night

I’m 27 weeks with twins and for the past couple of nights I’ve been so uncomfortable at night, my hips and shoulders are so painful I can only lay on each side for an hour before I wake up to turn over, therefore I’m hardly getting any sleep. I don’t remember being this uncomfortable with my first pregnancy but that was 13 years ago. Is this normal and something I’m going to have to deal with until the babies are here ? Or should I speak to my doctor about painkillers ?
