Future Marine wife?

Anyone here married to someone in the marines ? If so what age did he propose at . I am about to be 17 we have been together for a year . he just graduated & is off to boot camp in september . he is hinting off when he comes back that he wants to propose ? Which I would do in a heartbeat , i know everyone has their opinion on it . About young marriages never last , but i have seen them last . I just wanna know another experience to base it off of . I love this guy with all my heart . & I know I do . I’ve been through so much , to where people think im crazy bc I want to settle down so fast . but i know what i want for my life & my future family .

Marine wife here! My husband and I got together our Sophomore year of high school. We graduated from high school in May (me 18, him 17 until June), and he left for boot camp in July. While he was gone, we had talked in letters a little bit about getting married. When he graduated from boot camp in October, he got to come home for 10 days. He proposed like 2 days before he left again. We were both 18. A lot of people will say that we were too young to get engaged but honestly I’ve never been happier. We actually were engaged for almost 2 years before we got married at 20. Marrying him was the best decision I ever made. I’m so glad that we got married young

Im not a marine wife but i am an Air Force wife. my husband and i got together shortly after graduating high school back in 2013. we dated all through out the summer, september he left for BMT and I left gor college. we wrote letters, and he graduated and went to tech school. well december kf 2013 he came home and proposed! i was 18 and he was 19. i said yes. we agreed to wait till i had graduated college to get married. there is nothing wrong with a long engagement. it will be 3 years married this august! so do what you think feels right!

my now husband proposed the day he graduated navy boot camp. I said yes obviously but I was 19 he was 20. sitll super young. money will be tight and you need family support more than anything because we wouldn't have lasted the first year without our families. make sure you are thinking about your goals. I turned down 3 college offers to  marry my husband. here I am a year later finally thinking of going to school. part of me wishes I got my degree but I knew we wouldn't have worked out if I went to college. it was what worked for US. seriously talk to your parents about this because without their support it will be 100x harder than it already is. being young and married is rough but also bring a military spouse is a whole other cross to carry. PLEASE talk to your parents. don't listen to your friends. I wish someone would have told me to wait 6 more months to get married. plan it out. take your time. DO NOT ELOPE unless it works for you and your parents support it. take your time and get married for the right reasons not the wrong reasons (BAH, money, to move away from parents, free health care or whatever he is telling you). this is a huge decision and not to freak u out but whatever decision will affect which path you have in life. sorry if this came across bitchy or negative but I just wanted to give you my advice. being married young is  something a lot of people won't get to experience. we are supporting ourselves whole friends are broke in college. yet we have so many other burdens they don't have.

My husband and I got together when I was a junior and he was a senior. On my first day of senior year he left for boot camp. When he got back we broke up because he didn’t know what he wanted but we ended up getting back together after a couple months. He was in schooling and training for almost a while year before he got his permanent duty station. Once I graduated and turned 18 we got married and I moved across country with him. He did his four years and got out. We are still married and it’ll be five years of marriage in August. We have a two year old. Everything is great. Being a military wife is hard. Extremely hard. Nothing can prepare you for it but it works for some people. If it’s what you want to do don’t let other people stop you.

So my husband was in the military when I was a senior in high school. We started dating a few months before I graduated high school. He was off to Korea for his duty station. He proposed a few DAYS later....we have been married for 6 years!!!! We got together when I was 18! I’m now 25! It is hard. There is NOTHING easy about military wife life. The days a long and the worry is endless...but it’s so worth it! Young love can work! We were together for 1 year before we got married and didn’t see much of each other until he came home from basic and AIT. He was in the Army but being married to someone in the military is no different between branches.
