It depends. My husband has plenty of female friends at work and I have plenty of male friends at work. He doesn't go anywhere alone with a female and I don't go anywhere alone with a male. I think it's a respect thing.

Honestly, do what works for YOUR relationship. Everyone has different views, everyone has different standers and everyone has different exceptions.

I do not allow my man to do things. I'm not his mother nor is he my property. He makes his own choices like a grown up. 
But, yes he has female friends. I have male friends. I trust him completely. If I couldn't trust him to have female friends that I couldn't trust him period- a man that wants to cheat will cheat wether or not hes 'allowed' to have female friends or not. 
Also, the way I look at it is that if a bisexual person can have friends and not sleep with them then a straight person can have a friend of the opposite sex. If people can't be purely friends with people of the sex they are attracted to then bisexual people wouldn't be able to have any friends at all. Gay people could only be friends of the opposite sex. Its truely ridiculous.

I don’t allow anything.  We are adults that can have whatever friends we choose. I trust my husband so way would I think I can tell him he can have friends. Female or male.  He doesn’t tell me who I can’t be friends with.

Allowed? Lol. He’s an adult, he’s allowed to do whatever he wants. He has female friends and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I trust him 100%.
