Toys for a 2 year old

What kind of toys do 2 year olds play with? My friend has a 2 year old and she has nothing for her to play with. She can't work because she doesn't have a baby sitter. and her boyfriend works and makes damn good money but doesn't get her and their daughter a damn thing. My friend feels like such a horrible mother because her daughter has hardly anything. I have some extra money and I wanna suprise my friend by buying her daughter some toys! I just don't know what to buy. I don't wanna ask my friend what she might like and ruin the suprise so any advice from you ladies would be awesome!(:
