CHECK YOUR VITAMIN D!!!

Do

Hi ladies!

I thought I’d share this after my recent situation. I had a miscarriage in August of 2011 and another one the past January. Since I’ve only been pregnant twice (each with different partners), I was DEVASTATED. During my first pregnancy I was told my Vitamin D and progesterone levels were low and less than 48 hours later, I began spotting miscarried just at 6 weeks. This most recent time, I begged my midwife to put me on progesterone and check my vitamin D and she refused because the test didn’t come up positive at her office. I had to wait until 4:30 the next day to get the call that she was prescribing progesterone, but because my HCG was only at 20, she refused to check my vitamin D levels. The HCG never increased and I miscarried at 5 weeks. I went back to their office and met with the Dr who REFUSED to do any basic testing and referred me to a specialist.

The specialist my boyfriend and I saw has won Best Dr in America every year for the last 17 years. My deductible at work is pretty high, 6K, so we opted out on the testing. But he said it could be as something as little as a vitamin deficiency or things just not adding up right. He did an exam and was positive that “structurally” all is fine. He also said that because we’re both still young (we turn 30 in the next month) that testing would be recommended after 4 losses in a row.

After a visit with my primary and telling him my situation, he decided to run a basic panel. Not only am I Vitamin D deficient, I am SEVERELY deficient.

I have been taking 2,000iu a day for the last week and HOLY CANNOLI what a difference!! Depression = gone. Digestive issues = gone. Constant hunger = gone. Excess bloating = gone!

YOU ARE YOUR BEST ADVOCATE!!! Find a DR who will listen to you!!

Also, the GYN I was seeing doesn’t deliver anyways, so I had no problem leaving that practice. I’ll be going to a new OB/GYN in two weeks who I have heard WONDERFUL things about. He also specializes in high risk and delivers at the hospital with a NICU in my area so we’re really excited!

Here’s to baby dust this fall 🍁🍂
