Breastfeeding?

No judging please! 
I want to use my breast milk, but don’t want to breast feed, just use the bottle. 
Can I start pumping before birth to help the process??

Pumping before baby will induce labor and if you do it too much contractions can be very strong and can cause intrauterine insufficiency and can put your baby in distress...

You can pump before birth, but its unlikely to be worth the effort. I was a huge over producer but I barely got drops before baby was born. Pumping and bottling is a LOT of work, especially for the first few months when you need to pump 8x/day to establish your supply. That's time you could be spending sleeping or snuggling your baby. Breastfeeding is honestly way easier.

I started pumping at 38 weeks. I was trying to induce labor. I'm happy I did because I would get 2-3 ounces a day and was able to get a head start storing milk. I delivered at exactly 39 weeks. Definitely talk to your doctor first though as not all women should do this, I had a very relaxed doctor and I only lived 2 blocks away from the hospital.

Pumping early can cause early labor when baby isn't ready, although I have seen some people be okayed by their OB to start but I think they're 40+ weeks at that point

I plan on doing the same. You aren’t supposed to start till after the baby is born though. I’ve read it can induce labor and also it’s not milk at first, it’s colostrum

pumping and bottle feeding take way more time than straight from the tap. we did pumped milk for like a week before I gave up and went direct
