Birthing Classes are they worth it????

Question

Okay so this last Saturday i had to go in to the hospital for some contractions that was caused by me having a uti. Now when i was in there the nusre told me that it might be a good idea to do these classes since its my first and i am going natural for as long as i can. Well i have a doula and a midwife that i will have in the room plus my husband and i plan on walking around as well. I feel completely comfortable with this and feel no need in doing any classes. plus i don't think i have enough tome to take the classes since i already have been contracting since that Saturday. I was wondering who else didn't take classes with their first was just fine? opinion please and thank you. btw i am 35 weeks as of today. 😁 picture for attention

I took one last weekend with my husband and we loved it! I feel super prepared and excited for birth now!

I haven’t taken them either. To me, the nurses and doctors will give me all the direction I need. That and YouTube 😂 BUT I have spoken with couple who took a birthing class and they covered a few more non birthing related topics. The couple we spoke with said that they also walked away with some friends which is a plus!
I still won’t take one though haha

My husband and I took a class, and I am so glad we did. We learned a lot about different laboring positions, the role of the support person, recognizing the different stages of labor, and a lot about the medical side of things. It makes me feel more confident going into labor that I can make informed decisions along the way.  For us, it was sooo helpful. 
We also have a few friends who just had babies with no classes and they are doing just fine! These couples are a little more laid back than my husband and I. 😂

I'm on baby 2 and I'm on week 3 of my 6 week birthing class. You have a doula which is great!!! Why don't you try an online class with your husband? 
I highly recommend birthing classes to everyone because of how confident I feel afterwards
My girlfriend was on the "birth is no natural, I don't need a class" route and ended up not having the birth she was anticipating. Not because "things just happen" the doctors got her to opt into things that stressed her baby out, which she would not have agreed to otherwise

I’m sure you will do fine without them, but in my case I was a bit nervous when pregnant with my first and they helped ease my anxiety by showing me what to expect. I also liked that they showed us lots of different positions for labor which was great because when labor came it gave me some ideas of how to ease pain that I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise. One in particular was having my husband squeeze my lower back as I sat hunched over the back of a chair which helped a lot during contractions.

We just finished our 4 week class and I really liked it. I feel like my husband learned a lot about how to support me. We had a great, realistic teacher who told us she could teach every breathing exercise out there and we’d probably make up our own in the moment. But she gave us some really good relaxation exercises to do at home, told our partners not to annoy us and I learned A LOT about breastfeeding.

We took a birth class and the nurse kept saying during the whole thing that this class is really for the husband/partner, which in reality it’s true. I read a lot and even got a book for my husband which he said he was reading it as we go a long through the months, but I was still nervous about him not knowing things or not being prepared, but he class made me feel better about that.
However, I have a friend who took classes and read and she said that she felt prepared but when she went into labor that nothing can really prepare you except the experience itself.

We don’t have schedules that will allow us to take any of the classes in our area, but I found one that is online for much cheaper. It covers postpartum and newborn care also, I believe. And of course you can run through it at your own pace. My husband has zero reference for what even happens during childbirth so we are doing it together. I don’t want to have to explain everything to him and I don’t want him to feel lost with the info flying around when it’s go-time.
