I'm due in October also. I have a cat and planning on getting another. I would never think to get rid of my cat(s) because I'm having a baby soon. All you have to do is never leave your cats alone with your children and always supervise. Teach your kids young to not mess with the cats also. Cats are usually chill if they are not provoked.

I’m 25 weeks pregnant, we have two cats and both of them have claws, I just cut their nails every two weeks ☺️
The little one is pretty well behaved but the big one was an orphan so he doesn’t know how to play and can hurt you pretty bad when he is playing but they are part of our family so they aren’t going anywhere. The cat is not a problem, we all know you can’t leave the baby alone with any kind of animal or with other small childs, tell your husband you will keep him out of the nursery 👀

I have 3 cats. all have claws, all claw at things/people sometimes, and all are amazing with my daughter from day one. do not declaw your cat. its inhumane and will cause more issues than it will solve, like it will not be able to claw the litter when it goes to the bathroom and it will start going to the bathroom around the house.

Declawing is incredibly inhumane and painful for cats, both initially and over time. I think animals are family members and you should not get rid of them because you are bringing a baby into this world. However, people might disagree with me, but if it’s between declawing and finding a new home for your animal I say find a new home.

None of these are reasons to get rid of the cat.  The claws are fine - teach both baby and kitty to be gentle with each other and keep an eye on them. And simply shut the door to the nursery.

I don't believe it's recommended to declaw an older cat. So I wouldn't think that as a solution. My cat isn't declaw, we just don't allow her into our son's room. Supervision while he was a baby and within the same area as the cat. My cat is the biggest witch ever towards me, I honestly can't stand her. However, she loves my son and hasn't acted in anyway other than lovey towards him.

Your cat won’t claw your baby. What you need to be careful of with cats is suffocation 🙂 often times they decide to be maternal and want to snuggle baby, which is fine except in the instances where the baby is suffocated by the cat. 
Tip I’ve been given is not letting cat in baby’s bed and just generally keeping an eye on things

Not a cat but I have three pups that can’t stop cuddling my bump! My youngest (Sully, pictured) has a neurologic disorder that makes him really loud and clumsy with the occasional seizure. He turns one in about a week so my only concern is him not understanding that he has to be careful and share us when our little girl comes. I could never get rid of any of them. 💖
