Confused??

Question

I’m bisexual, and I always grew up in a loving, accepting family, but all my friends tell me that it’s a sin. I’m confused now, and I’m scared to come out to anybody, I’ve only come out to two people. What should I do?

The practice of it is considered sin by biblical standards, but the orientation toward it is not. Everyone has a struggle with something, it’s just that this case is unique because people have been working to make it as natural as race. Keep in mind that God loves you wildly and nothing you ever do can change that. Romans 5:8 says God loved us on our worst, darkest day, so nothing will change His love for us (and all of Romans is the explanation of the love God has for us. If you’ve never read it for yourself, I’d highly recommend it. If you do, it mentions homosexuality early on and sounds pretty harsh out of context. I’d suggest keeping the whole book in mind as one). I wish I could assure you there’s nothing to worry about in coming out to people and sharing this struggle, but I can’t. There’s a lot of hate out there, much of which I’ve seen with my own eyes against my brother. I’m sorry about that, but I promise that with the hate, there are also many loving people who are also godly (and I mean actual godly). Know that anyone who shuts you out for this is in sin against God and it is not normal or justified, but evil. Remember, God loves you no matter what. I’ll be praying.

It’s not a sin. God made you who you are, and He loves you with all His heart. He rejoices in you expressing your true self with love toward others. Many people do not search for context in the Bible, which is why the Christian community is so divided. But remember this, always: God created you, your mind, your heart, and your soul exactly how he wanted it to be 💙 And love will always be love, no matter who it is or what gender it is aimed towards

All I can say is, pray to God. He knows your heart & he loves you. I know I get confused in the whole religious stuff, but when I feel like you should pray and trust God to personally answer you. Don't let people drill you with negativity. Just focus on God. I am no one to judge. You have a right to live any way you want too but encourage you to pray. I feel like he will answer your prayer.

If you’ve had to keep it a secret then that should be your first indicator that something is off. You have smart friends who obviously care about you. It’s your decision. Just because I sin differently than you doesn’t make me any better of a person. If you believe in God pray about it. Have you sought counseling? If you decide to live that lifestyle still I recommend finding a mentor or friend that you can turn to in tough times. My cousin lives a gay lifestyle. I still love him though I worry about him (his safety and health mostly). I think he feels that because I’m Christian that I’ll reject him. The truth is as I said above. What, because we have different sins I’m better than him? Nope. We all need Jesus. Love to you dear!

In the bible, it states that homosexuality is a sin. I even remember reading a verse that said something like "any man who is a homosexual will not inherit the kingdom of God" now it's up to you to decide what that means, but I can't tell whether it means they go to hell or not. I definitely understand being in your situation. I believe that it is a sin, but I know many Christian homosexuals. It's up to you to do want you want to! Good luck g :)

A good book I’m reading right now is Washed and Waiting by Wesley Hill. He offers a less commonly heard perspective- that of a celibate homosexual Christian. Very interesting and moving read so far! I would definitely recommend it as he offers his struggles and experiences. So good.
