TMI - Have you ever passed a kidney stone without realizing?!

Erika

So last night (or today, whatever) at about 1-2 am I started having an AWFUL cramp on my right side. At first I thought it was cramping from breastfeeding, but a few hours had passed and it was still hurting pretty bad. It was a constant cramp, not a pulsating cramp or one that came in waves. It seriously felt like the peak of a contraction! Talk about labor flashbacks. I was crying because it was so bad! I took an ibuprofen and then a Tylenol a few hours later and drank hot tea and got hot packs because I just wanted to sleep it off. Well I fell asleep for about an hour or two, then I woke up again at 4-5 and I was in SO much pain. I had the worst urge to pee all night too, but I couldn’t. I was drinking a lot of water but not a single drop was coming out. I called the nurse line and they said it sounded like a kidney stone. I was getting nervous about not peeing, being backed up with urine can’t be good and this pain was bad. Right around 6 I got up and told my boyfriend I had to go to the emergency room because it was so bad. I got up and called my mom to ask her to take me so my boyfriend could stay home and watch the kids. I got a few steps from our bed to the bathroom and I felt a sharp pain in what I imagine is my urethra that made me double over and start crying more. It felt like the stone was coming out! I tried peeing and only a little came out. But the cramping had gone away and I felt sooo much better. I didn’t see anything in the toilet however so I didn’t think I passed anything. Since I felt better I decided to stay home and take a nap, told my mom no need for the ER anymore. I woke up a few hours later and I went pee and I peed so much lol.

So I’m not sure exactly what happened but I might have passed a stone without knowing??? Hopefully I did at least. I’m not looking forward to that whole scenario again tonight if I didn’t really lol. Has something like this happened to anyone?? Did I not have a kidney stone lol.
