When should I put in for my maternity leave?

I’m currently 28 weeks and I work retail. I don’t work many many hours but it’s already been tough with standing all through my shifts. I was thinking maybe at 36-38 weeks I should take off somewhere in there. I’m not sure when I should though. I get an unpaid 3 months so I’d like it as close to my due date as possible but I have a gut feeling my little girl is gonna be early. When did you take off for leave?

I am getting 8 weeks paid and then I can use vacation time if I want more. But I plan on working until she comes bc I want all the time when she’s actually here

I work retail too and I am 39+2 and am still working! I plan to work up until she gets here. I still feel great so planning on using all my leave for when baby girl is here!!

I also work retail and completely understand. I’m stopping work at 37 weeks, I have one week left of work. Being on my feet is so hard right now and the customers are all driving me crazy. Lol

It’s up to you, I work in retail and I left at 34 +4 and took eight days holiday so officially started my maternity at 36weeks! I just got so frustrated with not being able to do things like carrying boxes and bending over etc and coming home with my feet so swollen I was struggling to get my shoes off not to mention the lack of air con in work 🙈 
If I worked in an office and wasn’t on my feet as much I would probably still be working but retail is demanding and not being able to do my job as normal! I am 36+4 now and have managed to get most of the baby’s room complete and tidy the house before getting too big 😊

You can put it in at 36 weeks according to my doctor. I was going to work to 38-39 weeks but I just got so uncomfortable and my back hurt too much so I stopped at 36. And it’s hard to do that since I’m self employed
