how often do you give your newborn a sponge bath?

also, do you put lotion on your newborn? someone mentioned that lotion will clog their pores when they're first born?

I only bathed my son once a week (unless it was needed more) and didn’t use lotion. Once he was able to sit assisted (around 3 months) we started bathing every couple of days and used lotion. From about 6 months to now we bathe him every night (part of his bedtime routine) and only use lotion occasionally.
Our pediatrician told us that frequent baths when they’re brand new can cause their skin to dry out.

A bathe my daughter twice a week. I don’t see it being necessary more than that when she doesn’t do anything lol. Sometimes if she gets a lot of milk in her hair and neck, I’ll just wash those parts.

I bathed my newborn 1-3 times a week because if I did more than that, her skin would dry out and crack even if I used lotion. Shes now 12 months and I bathe her every other day, unless she's dirty before bed from playing outside then ill bathe her again.

I never used lotion unless it was the bedtime lotion on a night she wouldn't sleep. We bathed her everyday. She got rolls pretty fast. They get gross even faster. Once she started crawling, she didn't gain so much weight. Bathing is now a twice a week thing.
