So. I have gotten married and have the marriage license and everything but!
I have to go to to SS office to change my name. 
Can I make the last name maiden name drop? 
Example. 
Full maiden. Name: 
Keri Elizabeth Davis.
Can I make it 
Keri Elizabeth Greenwald? 
Am I able to do so? 
Or does it have to be Keri Davis Greenwald? 
As my new name
I live in NC

Girl you could change your name to Bluebird Tweedle Furdie if you wanted, the SS office doesnt care, as long as you fill out the application and then subsequently change all of your licenses, bank accounts, etc to match

I'm in NC also. They told me I could do it basically anyway I wanted to. Either way: (first, middle, new last) or (first, maiden last, new last) or keep my full name and new last name: (first, middle, maiden last, and new last)

This is the weirdest thing. Why would you need to keep your old name unless you wanted to? Its always been that the wife takes the husbands name and drops her own unless you choose to keep your name or hyphen it 🤔

You get rid of your maiden name (Davis) and change it to your new one. Your new legal name is Keri Elizabeth Greenwald. I just got married in April and had to do the same thing.

Yes, when you change your name you can just change your maiden last name to your married last name. First and middle names staying the same 😊

your maiden name will always be the same- madien name refers to the name you were born with but you can change your name to a married name and all legal documents (besides birth certificate ) can be changed. liscence, passport, identification. plus anything you put your name on can be your married name
